Detailed Instructional Steps
1 Intro: Hook & Activation
5 Mins
Begin by displaying two common everyday items that seem completely identical but serve entirely different functions (e.g., a pen and a pencil, or a key and a fob).
Teacher Script: "Look at these two items. At first glance, they seem to do the same thing, but if we look closer, they are built differently for specific tasks. Today, we're exploring Concept A and Concept B to see how simple differences change everything."
2 Main: Concept A & Concept B Investigation
15 Mins
Focus 1: Concept A
Introduce Concept A as the structural foundation. Focus on definition, structure, and physical or visual patterns.
Key Check: Can they identify the raw form?
Focus 2: Concept B
Introduce Concept B as the active driver. Explain how it interacts with Concept A to create complete systems.
Key Check: Can they recognize the action?
Prompting & Modeling Flow:
- Model: Show structured example, labeling where Concept A ends and Concept B begins.
- Guided Practice: Call on individual students to point out specific markers of each concept.
